About the Groom
Michael, 34, grew up in the coastal city of Lagos, Nigeria. He spent most of his childhood playing soccer in the streets of his neighborhood. He remembers fondly the taste of his mother's ogbono soup, a mixture of fish and spices in broth. He is the youngest of five children. He attended Holy Saviour's College; Delta State University, where he earned his bachelor's degree; Obafemi Awolowo Univeristy, where he earned his MBA; and Exeter University, where he earned a master's in finance. He recently immigrated to the U.S. from England.
How we met
Michael and Stephanie moved to England and arrived at Heathrow Airport on the same day - Nov. 12, 2004 - but did not meet until several months later. Both moved to the southwest to get their feet on the ground - Stephanie spent 3 months living and working in Bath and Michael did the same 13 miles away in the city of Bristol.
At the start of 2005 Michael took a job working in a shop in Covent Garden, in London. By that time, Stephanie had also moved to London and took a job at the same shop - Ted Baker. In February 2005 they shook hands when Stephanie introduced herself among rails of the Spring 2005 collection. It was a match made in retail heaven. Ironically, Ted Baker's marketing slogan is: "Made in Heaven." How sweet!
